Environmental assessment firm gains from Olympics
A Norfolk firm which carried out ground water monitoring and environmental assessments of the land for the Olympic Stadium has had an involvement worth more than £3 million in the preparations for the games.
Harrison Group Environmental, a leader in assessing contaminated land, was founded 30 years ago and is regularly called in to asses the environmental issues surrounding construction sites.
As well as working on the East London site of the Olympics, the firm has worked on the Castle Mall shopping centre in Norfolk, the Riverside homes and leisure development and the Broadland Business Park.
And, having graduated to the national stage, the firm has also established projects overseas.
Harrison has worked on a port project in Malta teamed up with the Gardline Group of Yarmouth to assess the environmental impact of seismic survey activities in Libya.
As the firm continues to expand, it needs talented individuals to keep joining its ranks.
Steve Williams, Harrison Group Environmental, managing director, told the Eastern Daily Press’ The Business: “One of the most important factors in the continued success of the company is our ability to attract, develop and retain high caliber staff.
“We look for people with the right technical skills, but they must also fit in with the existing culture that exists in the business and be able to offer added value to our clients.”
