Businesses ’should pick and choose their waste services’

Businesses in East Anglia should examine the waste collection and disposal services on offer from a number of different companies in the area in order to get the best deal.

This is the advice of Alder Tye, an environmental business advisor with Norfolk County Council, who told the Eastern Daily Press that shopping around for waste collection services can help businesses cut their disposal costs.

He said that while some district councils offer a trade waste collection service others do not and companies should "pick and choose" and "talk to as many companies as they can" to get a good quote.

"I know of companies in Norwich which will collect waste in bin bags so there are options out there," he stressed.

Meanwhile Broadland District Council in East Anglia is considering buying 3,000 wheelie bins to help meet the waste disposal needs of its residents.

The bins had originally been ordered by Wear Valley District Council in 2006 but are now standing unused following a dispute over changes to collections.
