Eco innovation with Norwich cycle hire proposal
A new eco innovation bike hire scheme could be set up in Norwich, it has emerged.
The Liberal Democrats were to suggest a city-wide bicycle hire scheme at a meeting of the full council last night, the Norwich Evening News reported.
Such schemes are already an entrenched part of daily life in cities such as Barcelona and Paris, were riders pick up and drop off their two-wheeled vehicles at various points across the city on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Judith Lubbock, Liberal Democrat city councillor for Eaton, said the move could be a good one for eco innovation.
"People who don’t currently own a bike would be able to find out for themselves how quick and easy it is to get around on a cycle under this scheme," she reportedly said.
However, a new report in the Press and Journal claims that a similar scheme in Inverness has failed to take off.
