Housing minister visits proposed eco-town site

Eco-town developers and campaigners had a chance to air their views to housing minister Caroline Flint this week as she visited a proposed green build site in Norfolk.

Ms Flint met bidders, local councillors and residents at the former RAF Coltishall ground on Monday to find out about plans and concerns for the project, reports 24dash.com.

The site is one of 15 under scrutiny by the government for a shortlist of ten green technology and sustainable engineering towns to be built by 2020.

Ms Flint said she hoped her visit would dispel "some of the myths that have been circulating" about the Norfolk proposals.

She told the website: "There is certainly no ‘done deal’ for developers, and I think today’s meeting has helped underline that fact? We are currently in the first of two consultations."

Other sites on the shortlist, which was unveiled by Ms Flint in April, include Pennbury in Leicestershire, Manby and Strubby in Lincolnshire and Curborough in Staffordshire.
