Windfarms open to the public for European Wind Day
Submitted on June 10, 2008
People residing in East Anglia will have the opportunity to peruse wind farms across Norfolk and Suffolk this weekend.
The windfarms in the area will be open to the public in celebration of European Wind Day, the Great Yarmouth Mercury reports.
Lowestoft’s Ness Point turbine and Scroby Sands off the Yarmouth coast, as well as the North Pickenham windfarm and Swaffham Ecotech centre, will be available for people in the area to see the turbines.
Any questions that people may have surrounding wind power will be answered, while useful energy saving tips will be offered by representatives from SLP Energy and the Energy Saving Trust.
Kerry-Leigh Gauntt, SLP Energy communications manager, commented: "Wind energy day 2008 is set to be a huge success across the country and we are looking forward to welcoming visitors to the most easterly wind turbine in the UK."
European Wind Energy Day will be taking place on June 15th and will offer similar opportunities to people across the continent as part of a campaign calling for increased development of wind energy to meet EU renewables targets.
