This process, invented in the East of England, joins industrial components by rubbing one component across the face of a second rigidly clamped component and improves significantly on electrical resistance welding.
Energy savings are up to 99% (for aluminium). Cost savings of 40% are reported for aluminium; other figures depend on the application.
The process is also more economical in materials.
