Thermally driven pumps

An excellent technology from the East of England is a pump which can use low grade waste heat or solar energy to pump liquids. It has no moving parts, so maintenance is all but eliminated, and does not use electricity.

Energy & carbon savings compared to incumbent technologies are 100% (replaces electricity entirely where low grade heat is available). Payback is likely to be short, and the device can be made from very cheap materials using established low cost processes. Now being successfully demonstrated, and should be more widely available in 2009.
